our history 



The Coffee Bar, known to locals and regulars as "TCB," opened for business in December 2012.  Our mission? To serve up delicious coffee in a fun and inviting atmosphere. It is a coffee "Bar" after all!  We want to make specialty coffee accessible to everyone, from your Average Joe to the Coffee Connoisseur.

Our first location is tucked in the Historic U Street/Logan Circle/Shaw area of Washington, DC. Our building was built in 1880, making it one of the more historic buildings in the area.  In keeping with this historic legacy, we have taken as our theme reclaimed and recycled materials.

 

In October 2015, TCB opened its doors to our second location in the Golden Triangle District downtown.  Located in the beautiful new Pillsbury building, TCB is excited to bring 3rd wave coffee culture to Downtown DC.  Come check out the beautiful industrial, trendy, caffeinated space!
