About Us
The Coffee Bar, known to locals and regulars as TCB, opened its first location in December 2012. Founder Cait Lowry set out to serve delicious coffee in a warm and inviting atmosphere and bring back the social element that makes coffee shops become essential in their communities. Whether it’s your first time coming through the door or you’ve been a customer since day one, at TCB, everyone is a regular.

TCB has become a fixture in both the Shaw and Golden Triangle neighborhoods. Our first location is tucked in the Historic U Street/Logan Circle/Shaw area of Washington, DC. in a historic building dating from 1880. In October 2015, TCB opened its second location in the Golden Triangle District. Even amid the hustle and bustle of downtown DC, TCB still offers an easy-going vibe that makes customers feel like regulars from their very first visit.
Our Coffee
To those of us at TCB, caffeine is its own food group. As one of the few multi-roaster shops in the city, TCB serves coffee from a variety of different roasters around the country: a diverse coffee selection, for a diverse city. We like to keep things fresh by providing seasonal offerings from our select roasters. At TCB, the coffee is the star, and we keep it simple by offering all your classic espresso drinks with some surprise signature beverages. And of course, we have offerings for non coffee drinkers as well. Oh, but we don’t do grande....
Our Roasters
Since opening its doors ten years ago, TCB has enjoyed great partnerships with our primary roasters. Since D.C. is a city of many tastes, we wanted to offer a variety of seasonal coffees on a rotating basis. From the East Coast to the West Coast, there is a plethora of talented roasters producing great high quality coffee, and we want to have the flexibility to showcase them.
